Soccer fans, it's time to whip out those jerseys: Fotoholics is taking to the football pitch for the 2013 FOTOHOLICS CUP!

This May, head on down to the Melbourne University Hockey Courts for our no-holds-barred soccer tournament!

It doesn't matter whether you're a World Cup aficionado or a fresh-faced soccer newbie. We welcome you all to this epic face-off – all you need is a passion for the sport and a good pair of cleats!

The teams will be allocated at random on the day itself, and will be comprised of defenders, strikers, and of course, the indispensable goalie. Please arrive on time so that we can place you!

Each match will run for approximately 11 minutes, with roughly 5 minutes for each half of a game. Expect to be battling it out for about two hours, which translates into 10 rounds and 20 games.

Don't fancy yourself an athlete? We have plenty to offer you too! Aspiring sports photographers will have a field day (literally) capturing the best moments of the games. Casual soccer fans and other curious Fotoholics members, kick back in the spectator stands with a good old-fashioned hot dog from our FREE BBQ!

<![CDATA[Fotoholics Post Processing Sharing Session & Workshop]]>Wed, 17 Apr 2013 09:36:25 GMThttp://www.fotoholics.org/1/post/2013/04/fotoholics-post-processing-sharing-session-workshop.html
It's now your chance to share your work with other members of the club in our upcoming sharing session/workshop! The topic of this session will be on Post Processing, which has become an integral part of photography since digital cameras came about. We will explain what it's all about, when to use it and how it's usually done. Then we'll slowly progress from the basic to the more advanced features of Lightroom (a great post processing software which we will use 90% of the time) and if time permits, other post processing software as well.

You may bring your LAPTOPS pre-installed with a post processing software, preferably Lightroom (that's the tool we will be using mostly) to enhance your experience at the workshop. Bring a couple of photographs which you would like to edit on the day itself (or be there really early so that we can pass you some). There will be power plugs in front of each seat, so you can charge your laptops if required. If you haven't got the software yet, Adobe has just released Lightroom 5 Beta which can be downloaded for FREE at this link:
http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/lightroom5/
You'll have to create a free account before you can download it. Get it soon as it won't be up there for long!

Instead of having a one way seminar, we decided to make things a little more interactive by letting you share the way YOUR post production techniques. Here's how:
1. Submit a maximum of THREE sets of unedited+edited photographs or individual photographs to SUBMISSIONS@FOTOHOLICS.ORG
- RAW/unedited jpeg & edited jpeg (to show before & after)
or
- individual unedited RAW/jpeg files for us to 'enhance'
- individual edited jpeg files
2. Write your name and a brief summary in the email of what you have changed in the 'edited' photographs
3. Attend the workshop!
4. When we present the picture, we will call you out to explain a little bit on what you've done (unless you are shy and don't want that, just let us know in the email)

--

Send in your best photographs from any of the previous Fotoholics activities or from your past photography excursions. We look forward receiving them and also meeting everyone again at the workshop!
