About Us
Welcome to the Fotoholics – Melbourne University Photography Club (MUPC) official website!
Overview
Fotoholics is one of the largest photography clubs in Melbourne, Australia. We are a student-run non-profit organization based in the University of Melbourne, but our membership is open to the general public.
Our primary mission is to deliver value to our members. We cater for photographers of all skill levels, including those who just want to learn more about photography, or simply just like travelling and sightseeing across great destinations in and around Melbourne. No you do not need a fancy camera to join! Only some of our members own fancy cameras, in fact, many members don’t even own a camera at all!
Workshops
As a Photography Club based at University, we have a very strong education focus. Our workshops are both practical, and focus on inspiration, intuitive teaching and real life application. For 2010 we have a range of workshops including “Travel and Landscape Photography”, “Social and Event Photography”, “Photoshop Skills” and much more. These intensive and rewarding workshops are all FREE for members and fully catered (food and drink). (The value of one of these workshops alone is well worth more than the $12 Fotoholics annual membership fee alone)

Activities
Our most common events are activities and outings where we visit great photographic opportunities around Melbourne and the state of Victoria. Past and future activities include Tulip Festival, Zoo, Night/Fireworks Photography, Light Painting Activities and much more! These events are also free for members (with the exception of any entry fees or bus fees if applicable). Studio Shooting and Portraiture
One of our most popular events is our Studio and Portraiture shoots. These are excellent opportunities for Photographers to practice their people photography skills in a friendly and low pressure environment, without the hefty expense associated with a private hire of a studio and models. Camp
Our longest event is the bi-annual Fotoholics overnight camp which sees a group of 40 participants visit great attractions around the state of Victoria. Past locations have included the Otways, Grampians, Philip Island, Mornington Peninsula, Marysville and more! |
